The Mars Phoenix Lander has verified water ice evaporating from the surface, after making a bulls-eye landing on the North Pole region of Mars – the equivalent of a hole-in-one from 433 million miles away. It has finally confirmed the water is indeed the same briny mixture that eons ago on Earth, provided the nursery that incubated our first basic life forms. Due to the setting winter sun at the pole, Phoenix ceased to send on November 2nd, 2008.
