... Blue Sawtooth is nestled in the pine and palmetto scrub in Malabar, on Florida's east coast. A short distance south of Cape Canaveral, the studio loft is home to some of the wildlife that become the fine art images of  Blue Sawtooth Studio.

The studio is named for the blueish sawtooth palmettos that enfold it. The palmetto is a unique plant – tenacious, virtually indestructible,  possessing restorative qualities, and providing a nurturing natural habitat for wildlife. The name and symbol reflects the continuing goal to observe and share the wonders around us, and provide an illustrated record of the here and now, for present and future generations to know and to reflect upon.  The site shares philosophy of St. Francis of Assisi -- to go and only do good works.  In keeping with that example, these offerings are for you.

From the Cape   Active Mission/Next launch/News: .

Endeavour STS 127 is on  Pad 39A, tanking test going on this am to see whether it will launch to the ISS July 11th at  7:39 pm EDT, carrying parts for the Japanese Kibo module, and bringing home their astronaut from the ISS.

Atlas V with NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, lifted off at 5:32 pm EDT from SLC 41 on  June 17th.  It arrived at the Moon and is now in its conditional orbit for checkout.   LCROSS will slingshot around the earth for 4 months, and then head back to impact the Moon's South Pole searching for water.

Ares I, the first test of the new Constellation mission tentatively set to launch from Pad 39B, now no earlier than August 30th, 2009, may push back another month...

Falcon 9 --   SpaceX'   inaugural launch delayed from summer  to fall  time frame.  It has been stacked, and de-stacked at the pad at SLC 40, and shipped back to their Texas Facility for more testing.

Mars Spirit and Opportunity Rovers awake again  for travels during Mars' summer, still going after five years, when their design life was a mere three months!  Mars Science Lab mission has now been delayed until 2011, due to the need to perform more testing, to ensure success of the now $2 Billion lab -- (cost increases from  1.8 to 2.2 B).  It had been scheduled to launch by October of 2009, and must wait another 2 years for the optimum distance between the Earth and Mars. In the meantime, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has found under'Mars' water ice in the mid-latitudes that is 3 times as large as Los Angeles, and up to a half mile thick!  Makes me think we should have no trouble creating a colony that sustains human life and provides energy stores as well!
